Traction & Recognition

Hands of Hope Africa has grown not only through the dedication of our grassroots partners in Uganda, but also through the recognition and support of leading institutions. At the University of Oxford, we’ve had the opportunity to refine our vision, showcase our model, and gain credibility as an emerging force in the fight against poverty.

Oxford Venture Builder

Hands of Hope Africa was accepted into the Oxford Venture Builder, a highly competitive incubator program designed to help founders transform early-stage ideas into scalable ventures.

Through this program, we:

  • Developed our 3-part model combining vocational training, financial literacy, and business support.

  • Narrowed our mission:  Investing in women creates a ripple effect that uplifts children, families, and entire communities. We set our sights on proving that women are strong, reliable borrowers and to dismantle the barriers they face in accessing opportunities and capital.

  • Secured initial funding to launch our pilot program in Uganda, turning vision into proof of concept.

The mentorship, resources, and community at Oxford helped us build the foundation for a model that reimagines the path out of poverty and can reshape opportunity for women across East Africa.

Innovators Start-up Showcase

Hands of Hope Africa was selected as one of just 15 start-ups across the Oxford ecosystem to participate in the EnSpire Oxford Showcase, a flagship event celebrating innovation and entrepreneurship.

At the Showcase, we presented our newly developed 3-part model to an audience of investors, mentors, and peers, highlighting how community-driven, women-centered development can tackle poverty in a sustainable way.

Being part of this highly competitive event not only gave us the chance to compete for funding but also positioned Hands of Hope Africa among Oxford’s most promising ventures, strengthening our visibility and credibility as we prepare to scale impact in Uganda and beyond.

Africa Business Forum 2025

Hands of Hope Africa was also highlighted at the Africa Business Forum 2025, one of the continent’s premier platforms for dialogue on business and development.

Here, we showcased how our community-driven model fits within Africa’s broader development landscape and built connections with leaders and stakeholders committed to rethinking how poverty is addressed.

Women-Led Business Spotlight

On International Women’s Day, Hands of Hope Africa joined a celebration of women-led organizations. Being featured alongside other changemakers reinforced the core of our mission: when women thrive, families and communities rise with them.

The event highlighted changemakers who are building opportunities and advancing equality through business and social impact. Our inclusion underscored the heart of our mission: women supporting women. By equipping women in Uganda with skills, resources, and financial literacy, Hands of Hope Africa is helping them start businesses, achieve independence, and create ripple effects that uplift families and communities.
