Our Board of Directors and Advisory Board provide the governance, expertise, and strategic guidance that shape Hands of Hope Africa’s mission. With diverse backgrounds spanning finance, law, healthcare, gender equality, impact consulting, and community development, these leaders ensure our programs remain accountable, impactful, and sustainable. Together, they strengthen our vision of breaking the cycle of poverty for women and children in Uganda.

Chairperson
Samantha Withey
Founder & Director of Hands of Hope Africa, Sam brings global experience from several United Nations agencies and grassroots NGOs across East Africa. She holds an MBA from Oxford University and leads HOHA’s mission on the ground in Uganda.

Treasurer
Harry Breidahl
Harry is an Investment Director with For Purpose Investment Partners and a partner at Sabou Capital. With deep expertise in finance and impact investing, he brings over a decade of experience in social finance. He holds an MBA from the University of Oxford.

Secretary
Kristina Zhou
Kristina works at the Crown Prosecution Service UK with expertise in legal research and governance. She provides legal expertise to strengthen HOHA’s compliance and accountability. Kristina is pursuing a JD from the University of Sydney and holds a BA in Media from the University of New South Wales.

Director
Max Le Merle
An Investment Manager at Better Society Capital and a contributing author at the International Sustainability Standards Board, Max brings a depth of expertise in impact measurement and social finance. He holds a BA in Mathematics and Computer Science from Trinity College and an MBA from the University of Oxford.

Mudit Shukla
As Sustainable Materials Lead at Rivian, Mudit specializes in innovation and sustainability with experience in circular economy solutions. He holds an MBA from the University of Oxford, a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M, and a BS in Engineering.

Medical & Health Advisor
Dr. Michael Metry
Dr. Metry, Chief Medical Officer at St. Francis Emory Healthcare, is triple board-certified in internal, critical, and neuro-critical care.He also serves as clinical faculty at Mercer University School of Medicine and Moorehouse. Dr. Metry guides HOHA on health and medical issues affecting women and children.

Gender & Equality Advisor
Inès Gètaz
Inès applies her expertise in sustainability and gender equality to design impactful strategies for global firms, with experience spanning carbon markets in Africa and corporate sustainability in reinsurance. She holds a BA in Geography and an MBA from the University of Oxford, and an MSc in Gender and Media from the London School of Economics.

Legal & Governance Advisor
Kristina Zhou
Working for the UK Crown Prosecution Service, Kristina provides governance and legal expertise to strengthen Hands of Hope Africa’s compliance and accountability. Kristina is pursuing a JD from the University of Sydney and holds a BA in Media from the University of New South Wales.

Sustainability Advisor
Jose Hong
Jose has worked with the International Union for Conservation of Nature and has worked as an environmental journalist in Singapore. He advises HOHA on environmental and ESG strategy. He holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a BA from University College London.

Financial Advisor

Community & Culture Advisor
Miriam Amoit
Miriam is a Midwife in Uganda, where she provides maternal and child health services. With over 15 years of experience serving rural communities, she leads outreach programs to reach remote women and children. Her roots in rural Uganda and work with vulnerable women provides a unique understanding of the cultural and social contexts shaping rural livelihoods.

Impact & Development Advisor
Mudit Shukla
Mudit advises on impact and development strategy, drawing on his experience as Sustainable Materials Lead at Rivian and his focus on circular economy innovation and sustainability. He holds an MBA from the University of Oxford, a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M, and a BS in Engineering.

Gautam Gambhir
Gautam is an impact consultant with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), with experience in large-scale education, agriculture, and health initiatives. He holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering.
